4.3g added some stuff for name impersonation. That's basically it. It's STILL a closed beta, so keep your panties on. IP: 64.188.100.169 |

The betas are in limited testing right now and are not suitable for public release. They'll be available when the bugs get ironed out. IP: 205.178.107.66 |

OK so.... news? Where are the release notes/history. I always download the zip but never see anything in there about changes. The extent to what I've seen has been in hal's posts about changes. IP: 64.0.40.189 |

In every distribution there should be a file called history.txt which shows all the things that have changed for each version. Where did you get the zip that didn't have one and what was it called? IP: 205.178.107.66 |

Just look on the AQDT site. Look in the "ETE Docs" section. Look at "Espionage" or "Tournament". Look at "Version History" for either. There ya go. A changelog for beta versions of ETE that you can't get. The higest is currently 4.3j. The last officially released and stable version at this moment is 4.3d. IP: 64.188.100.170 |

Monk, since I never explained it (though I'm sure hal could have told you this in about two seconds) here's the skinny on the match.ini. Match.ini is action.ini without team name, and it only should get used in the place of action.ini when matchplay is set to 1. Team names default to team 1 and team 2 and the skins default to the ogl-specific skins, and the only purpose of the match.ini is to create the appropriate set of eligible maps to enable voting on legal maps only (so paste the current ogl maplist in and you're set). Basically it allows a server admin to avoid needing to give out lrcon or rcon in order for teams to play a match. From what I gather in my hermit's perch, two teams can now secure a server based on captain agreement, so this now allows a server admin to set up legal voting while still retaining the public server setting used in the action.ini. Of course, hal may have redone map voting at some point to replace the vote command from TE 1.2a, so this could be useless now. Homer IP: 24.68.16.153 |

Actually, the way it is currently implemented causes the maps in match.ini to be added to those from action.ini. It's a one-line fix to make it replace them instead, though. Not sure which is better. I'd still like to retain as much flexibility as possible when a match isn't taking place, since there really aren't that many active servers (my gamespy only shows about 25 non-empty, including a few DM servers). Hal: Just thinking that each ladder could create a match.ini for use on approved servers, then when a private server gets switched they have the full set of maps to choose from, and only those maps. Case in point: a server running armyterr. Not legal for OGL play, but adding the match.ini to the action.ini maps makes armyterr a map that can be voted on, possibly causing issues. Just my thought behind that file. Homer IP: 24.68.16.153 |
