Reporting in! Posted Saturday, May 10, 2003 @ 2:56AM [EDT] by MP*Idle When the crowd least expects it, Idle makes his appearence surprising the hell out of everyone, eh... I've been slacking when it comes to the AQMD -- hope you forgive me. After all, I'm but a mere peasant with many duties.
So, what do I bring you today? Nothing but good news! I've just finished rewriting our maps database in MySQL, corrected a whole lot of entries, removed useless fields and added others. Now, I'm just waiting for some replies, as some maps in the database aren't supposed to be there at all, whilst others might be missing (hey, blame my predecessors!). Once the database is looking all dandy, I'll get to the scripting and fix the links as well (3D Downloads constantly changes their download system... "here today, gone tomorrow!").
Finally, when I've had my motherboard replaced, I can start testing all the wonderful maps you've been submitting the past four or five months.
Now, for something tad different... Mappers, want to surprise people? Do something new? Why not create some entity sets, LTK / LTKTBM routes and AQ: Espionage scenarios to include with your maps when you submit them. Not to forget the AQG location files, particularly useful for teamplay/coop based games.
The Action Quake2 Re-texturing Project is still running, although the approach for re-texturing existing maps has changed slightly with the addition of our very own CVS repository. Big part of the original id Software textures are already available, and more are being added almost every day. If you think you can help and speed things up a bit, drop by at the forum and shout!
That'll do for now. Everyone take care and have a nice weekend!
- Idle
